Grocies keeps your data on your device and nowhere else. We don't collect it, we don't store it, and we definitely don't sell it. Your groceries are your business.
Peter Pult is the data controller for the purposes of EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR, and other applicable data protection laws.
None. Zero. Nada.
Grocies does not collect analytics, usage data, crash reports, device identifiers, IP addresses, or any other personal information. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to see what you're buying — nor do we want to.
Everything you do in Grocies lives on your device:
All of this is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. It never leaves your device unless you choose to set up household sharing (see below).
If you choose to share your list with your household, Grocies reads and writes a sync file in a folder you pick — like iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. That's between you and your cloud provider.
Grocies does not operate any servers, intermediaries, or relay services. The sync file goes directly from your device to the folder you chose, governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms. We never see it, touch it, or have access to it.
Even though we don't collect personal data, you have rights under EU and UK data protection law, and we respect them fully:
No request to us is needed to exercise these rights, because your data never leaves your control in the first place.
Grocies does not use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking pixels.
Grocies does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR).
Grocies does not transfer data internationally. If you use a cloud storage provider for household sharing, any cross-border transfer is governed by that provider's policies.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Since we don't have your contact details, checking back here is the way to stay informed.
